Terrazzo’s roots date back to the construction of the Venetian in Italy. Craftsmen innovated this flooring technique by using left over marble chips from upscale jobs, embedding them into a clay surface, using metal divider strips laid out in patterns to create intricate designs.
This technique resulted in an entirely new flooring alternative called terrazzo. Terrazzo utilizes the expensive look of marble at a much lower cost.
